General Presentation
A business Park of 167 ha, used for industrial purposes since the beginning of the last century, the Plaine des Bouchers is currently undergoing a considerable economic conversion to the tertiary businesses. In fact, although the heart of the Plaine des Bouchers maintains a highly industrial character, tertiary businesses are grouping together on its periphery.
This progressive tertiarisation is reflected in the growth of the number of companies (350 in 1990, 600 in 2002) and bears witness to the policy of redynamisation and activity established by the Communauté Urbaine de Strasbourg. Thus, the majority (85%) of the fabric of some 600 businesses based in the Park now belongs to the tertiary sector. At the present time, the 572 companies at the Plaine des Bouchers employ around 10,000 people. Moreover, 72% of the companies have fewer than 10 employees and 70% are Public or Private Limited Companies.
Regulatory data
The Zoning Regulations (POS) authorise the following businesses:
- industrial, artisanal, tertiary and hotel businesses;
and, on the other hand, prohibit the following businesses:
- retail outlets, abattoirs, places of worship, residential properties…
The central zone is reserved for industrial companies. The zones on the periphery have a more tertiary purpose.
Contrary to the other business parks in the CUS, the local authority no longer has any real estate interests on the Plaine des Bouchers.
