Community life

The presence of international institutions and companies encourages the presence in Strasbourg of people of various nationalities. A number of structures therefore enable foreign nationals new to the city to maintain contact with their culture, whilst fully integrating into life in Strasbourg.

Community life

A detailed list of associations is available in the anthology published by La Maison des Associations, a body which provides these associations with services and the public with information.

The CIJA (Centre d'Information Jeunesse Alsace) (Youth Information Centre Alsace) is a mine of information on daily life (community life, studies, leisure activities, culture, travel) for the young and not so young.

The association AVF Strasbourg Accueil helps people newly arrived in Strasbourg and encourages their integration through the meetings and various activities it offers (tours of Strasbourg, walks in the Vosges, an afternoon cycling or rollerblading, camping…).

The Amicale Femmes of the Council of Europe is a meeting place for women working at the Council of Europe and wives of Council of Europe employees. This association is also open to people who have no connection with the Council (co-opted by two members of the amicale). It organises various kinds of activity and leisure of a cultural or sporting nature aimed at parents and children (days out, visits to museums, permanent activities).
