A long history

Automobile construction is firmly rooted in the industrial traditions of Strasbourg. It relates back to a prestigious name : Emile Mathis. His factories constructed motor cars under his own name until 1935. After an agreement with Ford, the firm produced the Matford, before launching the production of the Ford V8 for the French market. This continued until 1961. Today, another American giant, General Motors, has become the major player in this field.
